MINUTES OF AGM 20th November 2005. Ossett Town FC

1. Apologies were received from Paul, Joanne and Richard Milsom, S Straker, J Clayton, P Howard, C and R Trueman
, C Fothergill. Attendance list attached.
2. Minutes of the 2004 meeting were accepted as a true record, proposed by C Kettlewell , seconded by Joan Milsom.
3. Reports by officials (see below).
Time Trial secretary – Jim Blankley reported that next years events would run from May 3rd with 10s until 20th June
when the 25 would be run.
10s then continue weekly until the hill climb on 30h August. News years day 5 on Normanton bypass course at Heath
Common for 2007 to be included on next years list, which will be completed shortly.

Treasurer – Geoff Whiteley. A written summary was distributed (which Peter Milsom was to audit). This includes a
donation of £156 from an anonymous club member. Bank balance is +£1537.55. A healthy balance.

Cyclo cross – Peter Milsom. Minimum of 3 riders at events, 3 new riders had joined, so sometimes 6 Calder riders at
events. Since the split of British Cycling and track League International, there has been no overlap of events in this
area 9events arranged not to clash). Richard Fenn and Paul Milsom both completed last years three peaks race.
Pete Milsom won over 60s titles for both TLI and BC. Recently attended a grass track event at Roundhay park.

Social secretary – Jean Burton. Successful BBQ held at Ron and Cheryl Truemans in August, but poor attendance
by Calder members boosted by Holme Valley wheelers. There were problems with the venue for last years annual
dinner, caused by a last minute change of management at the Red lion (??) in Ossett. Service was slow, and we
were lucky to get meals at all! This years event to be discussed later.

Recorder – Tim Moss. No problems. Called for trophies to be returned asap. Engraving will be arranged when times /
names etc passed to Tim.
Press – Tim Moss. Results regularly sent by email to the Wakefield Express, but rarely published as far as most
people were aware. No feedback received from Wakefield Express.

Secretary – (general and membership) Andrew Spittlehouse. Reported no problems, 49 members several transferred
from York Clarion which had folded. A number of new members attracted by the website. Tbe triathlon club had
possibly led to some new members joining.

4. Election of officials.

5. Discussion about subs concluded that there was no need to increase them at present as there was money in the bank.
A unanimous vote carried this decision.

6. Evening 10s were discussed as the CTT levy will be increasing from 20p per rider to 50p next year. A minimum of 10 riders
will be charged for, with money refunded at the end of year if we overpay. Options were considered to keep fee at £1 for
1st and 2nd claim members, and increase fee for non members to £1.50. It was felt that we don’t yet need to increase fees
as we still cover costs. Unanimously agreed to keep fee at £1.

7. There was a discussion as to whether it was worthwhile keeping the club room at Ossett. The cost is still £80 for a year.
Often only 2 or 3 members attend on a Wednesday night and occasionally just 1. Paid for room until May next year.
Decision not needed yet.

George Masson suggested that the club run view was that a venue was only needed once per month. Circuit training
could be organised to attract more members.

The possibility of a discount at the red shed was discussed, bygone bikes use it once per month.

Pete Milsom outlined advantages of Ossett Town social club: 40 members allowed, and can use club at any time.
Under 16’s can use the room, but would be difficult in a pub. A separate room, available for Christmas party.

Negatives felt to be lack of atmosphere, a hidden room and location.

A special meeting to be held in March 2006 to decide what to do. Various members to investigate options in the
mean time.

8. The Barbecue had been a success again, but only because of Holme Valley wheelers support. Date for this years
event to be confirmed, but won’t be at Cheryl and Ron Trueman’s in Wrenthorpe again. A possible new venue is John
Claytons. June is preferable compared to August. To be considered at the special meeting to be held in March.

9. Christmas fuddle was discussed. It was agreed that it was essential again as it gets everybody together again. The preferred date
for this year was last Weds eve before Christmas (21st Dec). Jean Burton to organise, with help from Joan Milsom. More help would
be welcomed. £3 as last year.

10. Given last years problems Jean to investigate new venues. A proposal was made to hold this years meal on either 21st January
or 4th February 2006 (evening).

11. AOB.

Evening 10s. Low attendance last year until triathlon club members came late in the season. Invitation to join them at Pugneys
for their club nights. Pete Howard to do some coaching for them.

Need to send runs list and evening events list to them when they are ready.

Jean Burton advised that all members were welcome for breakfast at George and Leslie Gilliland’s after the new years
day 5 mile event.

Meeting closed at 20:28.
