Rider on Strines in Phil and Friends
Unprecedented coverage of Cycle Sportivs in the
Autumn pages of Cycling Weekly reflected the
growing popularity of these events which offer
something for everyone, be it a taste of road racing, getting some quality miles in or a chance to
savour a leisurley tour through fantastic scenery in enjoyable company.

In Yorkshire there is a wealth of such events, including the new Tour of the Dales, featured in Cycling
Weekly, Phil and Friends through the Peak District from Sheffield, the Great Yorks Bike Ride from
Wetherby to Filey and the Tour of Britains very own 'Etape de Tour' which takes in Yorkshire's own
Alp Duez -- Holme Moss.

Calder riders sampled Sportiv's further afield in 2005, with a big group riding the Tour of Flanders route
on the eve of the Spring Classic and later, in the summer, a smaller group rode the Bike Wales event
which took in the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons before finishing near Newport in the grounds
of the Celtic Manor Hotel which hosted a Women's World Cup Road Race the previous day.
