For rides done in the summer 10 TT series only, each
rider's handicap is calculated by subtracting the riders best race time,
of the current and previous season, from 24
minutes. The handicap is then subtracted from the riders actual time in
the current
event to calculate the handicap time.
The rider with the fastest handicap time receives 10 points, the next
fastest 9 and
so on.The riders finishing
with the 10th fastest handicap time receives 1 point as do
all the riders with slower handicap times.
Riders with no previous time take 1 point
and their time becomes their best time to be used in calculating their
handicap in
their next timetrial in the series.
The points gained are added up weekly to maintain a League Table with
the best 10
scores counting towards the league overall total
The rider with the biggest overall points total over the series is the
winner of the
Sturgess Trophy. The Sturgess Trophy is a closed event for Calder Clarion
members.
There is now an Open event, with the same rules except that the fastest
handicap
time takes 25 points and the second 24 and so on instead of 10,9,8......
An example.
3 Calder Clarion Cyclists do the first 2 events.
Event 1
1. A.Brown 23.50
2 A.Green 25.40
3 A.Black 29.59
A.Brown
has no time in this or last season. A.Green did 24.30 last season and
A.Black's
previous fastest time is 31.20 done last year.
A.Brown
takes 1 point because he has no previous time and his 23.50 becomes his
fastest time.
A Green's handicap is 24.00 - 24.30 = minus 30 seconds. His handicap
time is 25.40 minus 30 seconds (actual time minus handicap) which is 25.10.
A.Black's handicap is 24.00 - 31.20 = minus 7.20. His handicap time is
29.59 minus 7.20 which is 22.39.
So the Handicap Result is:
1 A.Black 22.39 10 points
2. A Green 25.10 9
points
3. A.Brown no handicap 1 point
Event
2
1. A.Brown
23.40
2 A.Green
24.28
3 A.Black 29.50
A.Brown
now has a previous fastest of 23.50, A.Green's fastest is still 24.30
from last
which he hasn't bettered this year and A.Black's previous fastest time
is now 29.59
which he did last week.
A.Brown's
handicap
is 24.00 - 23.50 = plus 0.10. His handicap
time is 23.40 plus 0.10 (actual time plus handicap) which is 23.50
A
Green's handicap is 24.00 - 24.30 = minus 30 seconds. His handicap
time is 24.28 minus 30 seconds (actual time minus handicap) which is 23.58
A.Black's handicap is 24.00 - 29.59 = minus 5.59. His handicap time is
29.50 minus 5.59 which is 23.51
So the Handicap Result is:
1. A.Brown 23.50 10 points
2. A.Black 23.51 9 points
3. A Green 23.58 8 points
and the Sturgess League Table after two events is:
1 A.Black 19 points
2 A Green 17 points
3 A Brown 11 points
For the Open Handicap League, the same rules apply except that the 1st
finisher receives 25 points, the
2nd 24, 3rd.........
